Saleh renewed this attitude during his meeting on Thursday with the Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and his accompanying delegation, Yemen News Agency (SABA) reported.
The two officials discussed brotherly relations and joint cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing and improving them in different fields. They also discussed developments in the region.
Larijani, who conveyed best wishes of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmamdinejad to Saleh, affirmed Iran' keenness on enhancing relations and promoting joint cooperation between the two countries.
He also affirmed Iran's strong support to Yemen's security, stability and national unity. He indicated desire of many Iranian companies to invest in Yemen in field of energy, roads, dams and housing.
Larijani highlighted Yemen's supportive attitudes to issues of Arab and Islamic nations toped by Palestinian issue.
Also Yemeni Parliament Speaker Yahya al-Rae'i told Larijani on Thursday that his country strongly defends Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
“We strongly announce our full support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.”
Yahya al-Rae'i went on to say “We don’t forget Iran’s support for the unification of two Yemens.”
He also said the Islamic world is proud of Iran’s scientific progresses.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s achievements in scientific, military…fields are considered as Islamic states’ achievements and they are proud of it.”
The top Yemeni parliamentarian also praised Iran’s position toward Palestine and Lebanon.
For his part, Larijani said Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities are an asset for regional and Islamic states.
Larijani had acted as Iran’s nuclear negotiator in talks with the European Union before he resigned as Supreme National Security Council chief in 2007.
He went on to say that Israel plans to transfer its worries to regional and Islamic countries.
“This is Israel which intends to spread its worries to regional and Islamic states.”
He also said Yemen’s strategic situation has turned it into an important country in the region.
Tehran seeks a long-term relationship with Sanaa, he added.
Pointing to the importance of unity among Islamic countries, Larijani said divisions will only benefit enemies. He insisted that Muslim nations must be vigilant in the face of deceptions by enemies.
“The enemies of Islam” want the Islamic states to focus on “minor and unimportant” issues, he explained.
The top lawmaker also lauded the Yemeni government for establishing dialogue with opposition groups in line with consolidating its national unity.
Arab states consider Israel their enemy
Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi, in a meeting with Larijani on Friday, said that none of the Arab states has a friendly view of the Zionist regime, saying all Arab countries consider the regime their enemy.
However, he said Arab states have a friendly view of Iran despite few disagreements on certain issues.
He also said Iran and Arab states hold a similar view on the Palestine issue, adding that Arabs believe conflicts between different Palestinian groups will benefit them in no way.
He suggested that any plan for resolving the Palestine crisis must consider the rights of all Palestinians.
Elsewhere in his talks, he said the U.S. is repeating its Iraqi mistakes in Afghanistan.
Larijani, for his part, said that military action does not resolve the crises in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Afghanistan crisis is spilling over into Pakistan at an accelerating rate because wrong policies have been implemented in Afghanistan, he added.
He went on to say that Iran has been making great strives to help Iraq promote its national unity and stabilize its security, adding that the pullout of foreign troops from Iraq is highly important in achieving this goal.
The Iranian official also said that Yemen’s stance toward the Palestinians during the 22-day war in Gaza is “unforgettable”
